“Charming - The staff make this place what it is”

My girlfriend and I came here after finding a deal on pigsback.com. From the off, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. When we got to our room there were two bottles of wine waiting for us (as part of the deal). The white was in an ice bucket that had recently been filled with ice - good start. The room itself was huge, clean, and had a fantastic bathroom. We made use of their swimming pool and thermal suite and both were very good. We also decided to have dinner there, which also turned out to be excellent. As everything was so pleasant we didn't venture out of there during our two days.

Part of me feels that I should give them a slightly lower score than I have as some small things did go wrong however, although they really were very minor. For example, we were hoping to have waffles for breakfast on the first morning as they were on the menu but they had run out, in spite of the fact that we had come down pretty early for breakfast. That really is a minor issue however, and, to be honest, the reason that I haven't marked them any lower is because it was such a pleasure to deal with their staff that I was almost glad to have an excuse do so. In every instance I felt thoroughly satisfied with their response.

What really earned this hotel their five marks out of five is the way their staff actually went out of their way for us. When we were leaving it transpired that my radio in my car had been on all weekend so the battery had ran flat. I asked at the reception if they could help and they gave me jump leads and a member of staff came to my assistance.

As I said earlier, I could mark this place just a little lower. However, there were so many pleasant experiences that I would feel guilty if I did. This place, and all of its staff, were so charming that I only have fond memories of my brief stay here. I could be snobby about it and nit-pick, but few of the places that meet my (fairly exacting) standards have left such a pleasant impression. Five out of five it is.
